Chicago & Showtunes

This weekend I visited Chicago with Bailey and Joe in honor of B Pryde's Birthday. B Pryde is the new name of BloodRay (although most of you probably already know that). Anyway...had a fabulous time singing karaoke with B Pryde and B10N and their friends. If Joe were a real friend, he would send me some pics from this weekend and post some of the videos on youtube.

Today is super-hero day at school. I am wearing my Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat t-shirt, a Wicked hat, a Wizard of Oz bracelet, a Phantom of the Opera Pin, Superstar pin, and Hair pin, and a Dreamgirls shirt tied around my waist. I'm carrying around a microphone and calling myself Showtunes Girl...saving the world one showtune at a time.

It's ain't right I say!

It's no secret that Scott Miller and I had a falling out several years ago which ended our friendship for good I believe, but I wouldn't wish this on him in a million years. Why couldn't the Archdiocese have told him about his well before opening night? Why wasn't he told of this rule BEFORE he moved his entire operation to this new venue?

I can't even imagine

What City Should You Live In?

You should live in Las Vegas. Why see the eiffel tower when you can see the fake eiffel tower? You have ethics, but you're not afraid to abandon them to have a good time. Gaudy Las Vegas may be just the city to satisfy your party itch.

Happy Birthday, BloodRay

Happy Birthday, Bloodray (in a couple of hours)! Can't wait to get up there this Saturday and hang and sing with you. Should be a blast.

I got a tatoo today. It's on the small of my back, so it is called a Tramp Stamp. It's of a peace symbol and it has vines wrapped around it with some purple flowers. It's very nice. It hurt like a beeeeaaaaaaaaaach but I like it.

When my skin is no longer red, I'll post a photo.

Things that make you go....hmmm.

I went to a "support" meeting for a certain group of students. It sounds like we would be discussing alcoholism or problems with people cheating...nope...we looked at pictures from the Dean's brother's wedding. Fuck the kids, let's look at photos from a wedding I didn't attend for people I don't know. "Johnny, your problems with the bully will have to wait...the Dean needs to show us pictures from her brother's wedding...on the overhead projector."

I took notes from a bunch of the other stupid crap that came out of people's mouths. Good times. Things like...

T#1 "We're going to have the students make posters and write their favorite things on the left side".

T#2 "So we're going to need markers" (in a tone that would suggest none of could have figured that one out."

I think when she said that I actually giggled a little bit out loud. All in all...I am really enjoying my job this year. I have to say...I think it's because I've found a new purpose in theatre and a renewed sense of passion for it.

For the real excitement of my week, please see Baileyville's blog http://www.baileyvillestl.blogspot.com/. Toilet Paper Girl rules!

I came across another funny blog. It's called http://www.tellitlikeitisleroy.blogspot.com/.

I now have Bean with me Monday-Friday because Mat can't seem to get her to school. This new arrangement suits me fine. I'm happy to have her more.

I be da Shavita

I'm here. I was going to move my blog, but then i thought....fuck it. Whatever.

Summer in Ste. Gen was a blast. We finished in the black. Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. Moving on.

I started grad school. I'm reading Lysistrata for my Sexual Politics in Drama class. I was in it in college and thought it was boring and I was right. Twelve years later, the premise is good, but the fucking script makes me want to tear my eyes out. Someone please point me to a good and MODERN translation for the love of all things holy. Can women really just withhold sex to end all wars? Unlikley, but funny idea.

I'm working at school full time and find that I have never liked my job more. Of course it is only day 2 so check back with me in a few weeks.

I have had many things to say and I do have interesting stories from this summer, so I'll get on posting those sometime soon.

Peace out, bitches!

bikes, chairs, and kids

Today I rode my bike (thanks, L) from school to the metrolink station in Clayton, from the metrolink station in Shrewsbury to my house. Kicked my ass, but was awesome. Very good workout today.

Yesterday I entered a chair that I painted/decorated in a benefit auction in Ste. Genevieve and it got $150. I've never sold anything I made before and I was so excited, nervous, embarrassed, proud, etc. What a night. Loved it! The theme of my chair was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (surprise, surprise).

Emma has found friends on our new block. Now that the weather is warm, all the kids are coming out on a regular basis. Emma runs from one back yard to the next with the neighborhood kids for hours. She screams and cries when it's time to come in. I love this house and block.

We leave for Ste. Gen on June 5th, so start planning when you are coming down to see the show!
